In Uganda, like in many third world countries, increased movement of people from rural to urban areas has contributed to the amount of solid waste generated in these urban centers.
Unfortunately, most of the garbage remains uncollected and keeps accumulating day by day at dumping sites, by roadsides and any other open places.
This situation of uncollected garbage is worse in slum areas where most community members are very poor and have bad solid waste management behavior and practices.
